    UAF Cooperative Extension is putting on a workshop on both passive solar heat and rocket stove construction.

    Saturday September 28 at 8 am to 12:15 pm – participants will build their own solar backpack oven and learn about solar energy for cooking, hot water, and heating. Jim Scott, retired electronic design engineer, who has experience with solar design, will be joined by Extension Energy Specialist Art Nash

    Saturday September 28 at 12:30 to 5:30 pm – This workshop will cover theory, design considerations, materials and construction, and use of rocket stoves. Emphasis on burning inexpensive and salvaged local materials. Participants will assemble heater components. The workshop will be led by Lasse Holmes, Gary Currington, and Jim Scott.

    Both will be held at the Tanana District Office, 724 27th Ave. Suite 2 & 3. Cost is $30 each or $50 for both. For more info call Carmen at 474-5854.
