Flat freezing

    I am making different stews and main dishes to freeze. I have a second freezer, so space is not the issue yet, but I would like to put the stew or whatever, in plastic freezer bags, lay them flat and stack ’em. I do this with applesauce all the time, but I usually eat it long before it can get freezer burn.

    Does anyone else freeze food this way? Is a Ziploc freezer bag enough to protect food from freezer burn? Would double bagging do the trick? Or should I drop this idea and get a bunch or containers?

    Also, does anyone know whether or not cooked Manwich can be frozen? My sister said it’s a bad idea, but she knows less about fod and cooking than I do. Don’t sneer! I love Manwich.
