Since there is concern that the H1N1 virus may be causing more illness than previous ‘seasonal flu’ seasons, we can keep track of significant outbreaks here. You may want to consider reviewing your cough/cold/flu supplies and stocking them NOW.

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) – The Salt Lake Valley Health Department is reporting the first death from the flu in Salt Lake County.
The victim was 61 years old and died from the “regular” flu, not H1N1 Swine Flu. But citing confidentiality, the health department will not release any additional information.
The Utah Department of Health (UDOH) reports that so far eight people across the state have died from influenza since the season started last fall.
UDOH reports that flu activity is relatively flat right now in Utah. Officials say there was a small spike early in the fall.
So far, there have been 209 people hospitalized with influenza. 94.5 percent of them had some type of risk factor for the flu. The health department also says there was a slight bump in hospitalizations at the beginning of the year.
