Freezing asparagas

    I am starting to get more asparagus than we can eat from my garden. Yesterday I decided to freeze some surplus. I blanched it about 30 seconds then placed it on a tray in the freezer, then vacuumed sealed it when it was frozen.
    Last evening I was telling my mom about it and she said not to blanch it, just freeze it then seal it.
    I thought I would check here to see how some of you handle it before freezing it.
