Rolling Oats

    We bought an attachment for our grinder so that I can roll our whole oats. I tried it yesterday morning for breakfast and it worked great. I wasn’t sure about how much water to use to cook them and for how long, but it worked out as I guessed. DH put 1 cup of whole oats through the oat roller which made almost two cups of rolled oats in no time. I cooked the whole batch using 4 cups of water which is the same proportion of water to steel cut oats (4 to 1). It took 7 to 8 minutes to cook which was shorter than I thought. It takes about 30 minutes for steel cut. I also add a bit of salt to the water since I don’t like my oatmeal real mushy and “creamy.”
