Venison Recipes

    I was recently asked for a few recipes, so I figured I would start a thread and everyone can add theirs. These are conventional recipes, for a regular stove in regular times. I am sure they can be modified for after SHTF, however these are in my arsinal of regular recipes 😀

    Here’s my favorite – it’s a crock-pot recipe. I just modified a beef recipe. It’s uses roast meat, any cut is fine, but tougher cuts are good for this because it cooks so long.

    Cube 2 lbs of roast meat into 1-2 inch cubes. (This is preference. I prefer 1 inch, hubby prefers 2!)
    4 cups hot water
    1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
    1 tsp worcestershire sauce
    1 clove garlic, minced or grated
    1 bay leaf
    1 tsp sugar
    salt to taste (about 1 tbsp)
    black pepper to taste (about 1/2 tsp)
    paprika to taste (about 1/2 teaspoon)
    6 potatoes, cubed
    2 carrots, cubed
    1/2 cup corn

    First, put meat into slow cooker. Then add rest of ingredients and give a little stir. Cook on high for 2 hours and then switch to low for 3.5 hours. Or do as I do, and cook on low for 7-8 hours. When the meat and veggies are fork tender, it’s done 🙂 Enjoy.

    You could pour off some of the liquid, add corn starch or flour to thicken and cook over medium heat until thick, then add back in to make this more of a stew.
