I have read mention about VPNs. I noticed that aunt B’s footnote also mentions using one. Is anyone else doing this? How do you get one? Do you pay for them or can you get them for free?

A VPN does two things. It hides your traffic from your local provider (everything going into and out of your system is encrypted, including addresses). And it hides your location from most of the web sites you go to.

I leased access to Nord VPN for about $3 a month.

There are “re-webbers” (limited form of VPN) that operate for free, and there is the TOR Browser. It is free, but I haven’t tried it and have heard it is very slow.

Here is a list of some of the best:

There are many other good ones.

Read the review on hotspot VPN app here:

It’s free and the connection while using it is rather good.

I swung by this thread because I am an advocate of cybersecurity. Using Virtual Private Networks work isolates yourself from the traffic of a public network, making it more difficult, if not impossible or completely not worth the time for a third party to intercept your connection and subsequently your private data. You can use this reference I found of some of the most trustworthy VPNs for USA. Remember this, not all VPNs can be trusted so you have to be careful in picking out which to use.
