Doing my preps, I have had trouble coming up with a water plan. I will explain my solution below and would appreciate any feedback or suggestions from the group. I have several cases of bottles water in storage, but if I use the old thumb rule of 1 gallon per person, per day, that quickly adds up. So, this is what I came up with:

I have a hottub which holds approximately 350 gallons. We don’t use it very often but I maintain the chemical levels (calcium hypochlorite, etc) and completely change the water every three months or so. In the event of an emergency, my theory is that water could be used if not necessarily for drinking, then cooking and sanitation, etc. In addition to the regular addition of shock & purifier, I also have a couple of Brita pitchers with several filter cartridges on hand. Properly filtered, the water should be potable. There are only three of us and a dog so I figure this plan would give us a short-term water supply of about 30 days. Any thoughts?
