I saw a reprint from an old “Herter’s” magazine recently. It showed a saltwater still made from two polyethylene containers. The outer one was a 5 gallon clear bottle. The inner one was a 3 gallon clear one. Apparently you could collapse the smaller bottle and insert it into the bigger one and then re-inflate it. You then drilled a small opening for a drain tube near the bottom of the outside bottle and glued a tube in place. You filled the 3 gal container with saltwater and then capped the larger one. The steam from heat would condense on the sides of the outer bottle and could be drained out the bottom tube. It seemed simple to do and I wonder if it would work to help purify freshwater from streams and ponds in a needed situation.
