So, I was in WallyWorld today auto section and saw a boat bilge pump. The thought occurred to me that it might work as a small scale back up water pump. The package said that with 3/4″ line (recommended) it could pump 800 gallons per hour. I figure with a cutoff switch wired to a float in the storage tank and a deep cycle marine battery it just might work to fill a smaller storage tank or as a portable unit to fill a tank from a stream or pond. That is my idea and I invite all you engineer types to tell me why it would or would not work. I have seen mechanics use electric fuel pumps with car batteries to empty fuel tanks before so I know there is some type of workability there. All thoughts and suggestions welcome  :help:
