Re: When do you stand up?

"And for most people, there never will be a right time, because as Lynda says, they don't want to take any undue risks." Hmm. There's a significant difference between reasonable risk and undue(or stupid) risk. Please don't quote and misinterpret what I write here. Thanks. Ok, I'll bite. T...

Re: When do you stand up?

I think we're all vested in something and as I answered on the now contentious Ferguson thread, avoiding undue risk is key. We stood up to MA legislature when they arbitrarily snuck in a gas tax tied to inflation. We stood up by going out every weekend, gathering signatures to get a question on the ...

Re: Ferguson Missouri

Anders8: "... attending such an event... "? WILLINGLY??? JFC! If you were "attending" something like this, what the 'ell were you thinking? You were there to watch the "fun", right? To egg the more violent ones on? To maybe get on TV? If you work in the area, take off ...

Re: Ferguson Missouri

"I don't think there's any way to know "for sure" that any large gathering will be a peaceful event. I bet that demonstration could have turned non-peaceful if the police decided that the intersection NEEDED to be cleared (for exactly the reasonable reasons you mention) and started fo...

Re: Ferguson Missouri

Thoughts? How about staying away from these protests to begin with unless you know for sure that it will be a peaceful event? The one in Worcester, MA yesterday was peaceful in and of itself but they certainly had no right to plunk down on their butts in the middle of a busy intersection in that cit...

Re: Ferguson Missouri

My concern is the aftermath of the verdict. There are reports of 3 police officer's family homes, in Ferguson, have been burned down. Also, reports of up to 300+ structures/homes/businesses are on fire. Governor Nixon called out the Nation Guard, but they were ordered to stand down. Why???? The Gua...

Re: Gun sales to an out of state visitor

Fishing? Nooooooooooo....I am a resident of Washington state, though I live abroad at the moment. I am trying to find a way to buy weapons "under the radar" after they passed their recent legislation about background checks, which, incidentally is a kind of registration. It seems that rif...

Re: Ferguson Missouri

If the subject was shot in the back then he would have been fleeing. Autopsy results indicate he as shot in the front.

Re: Ferguson Missouri

I think its about to get ugly if it doesn't go their way............ Indeed. Some part of me thinks that the decision by the grand jury was highly anticipated and longed for by the agitators.; a justification for violence. I know I wouldn't want to be a business owner in that city. Mob mentality at...

Re: People killing our police officers

"Not everyone is lucky enough to live in Mayberry. I was just trying to point out that your argument is eerily similar to "If you don't have anything to hide why are you against (search, spying, etc.)" It's not just criminals that come under unwelcome scrutiny by the police and when t...

Re: People killing our police officers

I'm aware that many think LE has become militarized. Maybe that's true, but we're all given the opportunity to NOT commit a crime. Perhaps the most judicious route a person should choose is to not steal, murder, rape, vandalize, assault.......We're all responsible for our own actions and rather tha...

Actually, it is about 780 days. At the present rate of a scandal or two a day, that's a lot of lies and scandals!
