Re: So what can we learn from this weeks monster storm fiasc

Tim, respectfully, we'll have to agree to disagree. State called it right on this one, at least in my opinion. It's happened before and it'll happen again, but surely nothing you need concern yourself with unless you drive in MA. ;)

Re: So what can we learn from this weeks monster storm fiasc

"My concern comes from a small group of people decided how a large group of people will handle a snow storm. I am not in favor of closing roads and telling people they cannot leave their homes. While it is their job to declare a true emergency, it is not their job to do it before one has happen...

Re: When Your Significant Other Thinks You're Crazy

"A little backstory; I've been with my SO for roughly 10 years (I'm 32, she is 31), and we have lived together for 7 years. We aren't married but we own a home together, share bank accounts, have two dogs and her younger brother lives with us so it feels like we are married I suppose. We each ...

Re: So what can we learn from this weeks monster storm fiasc

Lynda yes with on car's,trucks on the roads. the road crews where able to clear them faster. and with less of a headache. That area gets what one a year or every other year? so the people should know by now what is going to happen. Yes, they should although it's fair to say we generally get more sn...

Re: So what can we learn from this weeks monster storm fiasc

"It is not the governments job to decide when bushinesses are opened or closed, by declaring SOE all over the place, people lost money. You may not think that is a big deal, but it is a big deal for many businesses and their employees. More money was lost than saved by the road crews traveling ...

Re: Measles Outbreak

I agree with Senah. I'm an oldster, too, fast approaching 61 but ensured my sons were vaccinated, including the oldest who'll be 41. It's got nothing to do with being politically correct or being New Age parents. If they didn't need to be sick then why have them sick? Besides, since the Seventies, ...

Re: So what can we learn from this weeks monster storm fiasc

There is no cost advantage of cleaning up major highways and roads with a parking lot of stuck vehicles. One only has to dig up pictures of this during the '78 blizzard to understand this. It was because of that storm that pro-active measures were implemented. Spend a little now vs. spending too mu...

Re: #blizzardof2015

Interesting to see how the media adjust its predictions as the storm gets closer. Yesterday they were saying 3 feet, this morning 2 + and this afternoon its nearly 2 feet. If this keeps up their historic storm of the century will just be another snow storm. It is just another snow storm, for us, de...

Re: So what can we learn from this weeks monster storm fiasc

"3 - Stop allowing your governors to act like fools. This was a perfect example of government doing more harm than good, and wasting a lot of money doing it" In my opinion, Baker did the right thing and made the right call by declaring a state of emergency. Isn't this part of being prepare...

Re: Possible Major Snowstorm for Northeast Early Next Week (

Oh my, ET2[SW]Moose87, that is an awful lot of snow.............. Linda, I wasn't including the elderly or disabled in my comment. Any serious weather has me checking on several neighbors for those reasons. I'm talking young able adults who should know better. But for whatever reason, never think a...

Re: Possible Major Snowstorm for Northeast Early Next Week (

Granted there are those who should know better but before we bash everyone, keep in mind the housebound elderly, and/or, who have no one besides Senior Services to see to their needs. We've already checked in with our older neighbors and will continue to do so.

Re: Possible Major Snowstorm for Northeast Early Next Week (

Lynda, yu stay safe up there! My brother is also up in your neck-of-the-woods. I talked to him, last night, but we were so busy talking about or 84 y/o father (who lives on his own & is a constant worry to us) that I totally forgot to ask him if he's prepared. As a former fire fighter he better...
