Re: I need some teenagers opinons

my fiances' 17 year old daughter gets quite upset and mad, calls us crazy, and stupid (she thinks that nothing could ever happen). Our daughter is 23, still living at home and STILL acts like this with me. She tells me to be quiet anytime the topic comes up. Doesn't want to hear it. Young folks don...

Glad it's a help! I thought it was interesting! As for myself ... my gardening skills and attempts have been a horror story! :bored: ... :( -k

Re: Tire Rim Grill

One caveat: do NOT use old racing rims made from magnesium! You will get more of a flame than you bargained for! :) I have made similar out of the wash basins from old washers (Pops worked in the industry years ago). I like the looks of the rim design. I should make these and call them "rim-fi...

Re: Predicted EMP

Back this all up a few steps... Power plants run on fuel. That may be coal or natural gas in most cases. Coal and natural gas come from sources which need electrical power to run extraction equipment and instrumentation, and liquid fuel for large equipment to mine coal. Once the fuel (coal or natur...

Re: Predicted EMP

Luck had nothing to do with it. It is the result of hard choices and hard work. Swamp Oh, you are quite right, swamp! When I used the word luck, I meant you are lucky that you did all that hard work to be so much more prepared than the 'average' citizen! :) Those unlucky citizens are the ones that ...

Re: Predicted EMP

If people can survive up here in northern Minnesota that way, it is possible to survive almost anywhere. You can turn my power off tonight and I would survive. The problem is that you two are NOT the norm for the majority of the country. And that majority will become chaos & death very quickly....

Re: Predicted EMP

Thank you, ReadyMom! I couldn't find that to save my life! You're welcome. It was late, when I posted that, last night. I re-read it,this morning. The task to produce, transport & install a transformer ... in 'NORMAL' days seems ... to be a daunting task. I'm trying to imagine the same process ...

Re: Predicted EMP

Fussy was asking WHERE are transformers manufactured? So I did a little internet searching and found the info, below. (I know I read something, somewhere, a while back ...sorry vague, but that's what I remember) about manufacturing finally starting to happen, here in the USA, but that won't do us an...

          ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ What Fussy said ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

Especially this part: "Anyone who says that we'll just be sent back to the 1880s doesn't have a very good grasp of the situation."
