not great ones.. What are you foraging for food or herbs?
There are a few books that I have , but they are limited and constrained to the sheer size of what we have available. I have been foraging since I was 5 years old at my Parents knees and I'm 56 now and still am learning.. Best way to go about it is to find someone that knows and go off into the woods and fields and learn. You are welcome to tag along on one of my foraging Journey's.. I will be posting the new dates soon in the CT forums areas.. And if you come I will bring along the books I have and you can look them over first hand..

Foraging New England
http://www.ctdepstore.com/Foraging-New-England-158.htm

A Field Guide to Edible Wild Plants: Eastern and central North America (Peterson Field Guide) [Paperback]
http://www.amazon.com/Field-Guide-Edibl ... 039592622X

A Field Guide to Medicinal Plants and Herbs: Of Eastern and Central North America (Peterson Field Guide) [Paperback]
http://www.amazon.com/Field-Guide-Medic ... 0395988144
I own and recommended
just a few of the vast collection of books to be found.. I own Foraging New England..
Wildflowers in the field and forest Northeaster US.. <--this one is excellent, but requires that you realize what is edible and medicinal..
Eastern?Central Medicinal Plants. I have a Library of over 200 books on plants and gardening..

I'm a fourth generation Appalachian forager. I would HIGHLY recommend the 2 books by Samuel Thayer:

The Forager's Harvest: A Guide to Identifying, Harvesting, and Preparing Edible Wild Plants
Nature's Garden: A Guide to Identifying, Harvesting, and Preparing Edible Wild Plants

Another excellent book is Edible Wild Plants: Wild Foods from Dirt to Plate by John Kallas.

Awesome! I'm going to have to add a couple of these to my Amazon Cart. I tried checking my local library but had no success.
