Please introduce yourself here.
Figure that the best way to get to know folks is to let them know what part of the state you are from. Tell as much or ad little about your location as you wish.
ZA is located south of the I-40 corridor between Hickory and Morganton. Glad to meet ya!
I'm glad you joined us here, Freedomrik. The more the merrier. I look forward to some good talks--like sittin' on the back porch at the end of the day.
I just Joined. I'm in Guildford County. I want to move by next year.
Hey, Whisper. Glad to meet you. Welcome to the NC forum. Where are you hoping to move next year?
I don't know where yet. I need to get a job first and sell the house. I want to get into the woods! Where I belong! I moved to High Point from PA last year as a landing spot. I know what you're thinking, Damn Yankee! Yeah, maybe so, but my great great grandparents are from NC! I'm coming home to roost. I just don't know a soul here. Other then my neighbors. I do love it here.
We love our location. After we bought our land I got into genealogy and have discovered that I have ancestors from here. I felt like I was coming home, too. The unemployment around here is very high making me happy that we don't have to try to find work. Keep in touch, Whisper. I hope you find a place that works for you.
Unemployment is horrible. If it wasn't for that real estate bubble I would be sitting on a pile of money right now. But there went everything! As long as I get a job, I'll be OK. I just had to revise my plan. As far as genealogy is concerned, I just found out the other day that they named a lake after my family name!
I was in IT for over 20 years. I am currently studying for my CCNA. I had it, (must take it or another Cisco test every 3 years or loose it) I was getting ready to take the next one during the move when an 80 year old women doing 55 in a 30mph zone decided to take a left into oncoming traffic without stopping and T-Boned my wife into a brick wall with her brand new limited edition M-Theory. I had to take care of her for a year. Missed taking my test, therefore lost my CCNA.
Anyway, I worked in a few great places doing a variety of IT jobs. My favorite being supporting medical applications and medical devices. I am hoping to maybe get into networking or medical IT. But at this point I am not picky! I would appreciate any help MM.
I am very sorry about your wife. I hope she is recovered. Thank God she had you to help her.
It sounds to me like you have some real advantages: a lot of IT experience, medical, networking. Those have to combine to make you very marketable. I think your chances are about as good as it gets in this economy. I assume you are using all the online recruitment sources and have posted your resume on all of them. Review it to ensure that you have included all possible tag words. Keep working your contacts and network including church, service clubs, professional societies, etc. Look for any reasonable volunteer opportunities that can put you in touch with decision-makers. Be confident and don't broadcast fear or desperation. Trust me, you will be successful. Good luck, Whisper.
Central NC, about 40 miles east of Charlotte. Mt.M I grew up on a farm not too far from your current location. Spent many hours on Hibriten Mountain. Look forward to getting to know NC preppers.
Welcome CWS! It's pretty nice around here. MountainMama just put in a new couch over there the other day. Although Zombie Ax's Shepard was chewing on it this morning.
