There's been some interest expressed for a Spring meet-up. So, Central PA preppers, check in here and let's keep in touch!

I'm in the Harrisburg-Carlisle-York area. -k

Hey Guys I am in SE PA but am up for a roadtrip come spring. We're about 2 hours out from Harrisburg area but an easy drive.

Looking at the "Central Pa" map, it appears that Fort Hunter Park may be a relatively central location geographically.

City Island might be convenient for many, but it wouldn't be in my top 10 places to go
http://www.harrisburgevents.com/Common/City_Island.html

Lower Allen park, while not quite as centrally located, is a 110 acre park and has an area to let your dogs run unleashed, although supervision is required.

Just throwing some ideas out here for everyone's consideration. :)

Re City Island ... naaaaaa ... not a good one :shakeno: . Baseball game, maybe, but not a meet-up for us.

ALso Indoors or Out??? That might give us more choices.

Families or just preppers? (I'm thinking my family is going to say 'NO' ... Uh-Uh ... NO Way', lol)

Y2KNOWA made this suggestion here and it sounds pretty interesting:

Y2KNOWAY wrote:We could meet at the Landis Valley museum sometime - depending on what's on their calendar and what people are interested in. Landis Valley Museum is 2.5 miles northeast of the City of Lancaster.

http://www.landisvalleymuseum.org/index.php

From their website: "Landis Valley Museum, a living history village and farm, collects, preserves and interprets the history and material culture of the Pennsylvania German rural community from 1740 to 1940 and enhances understanding of their successful practices, interactions with others, and the impact on the state and nation for citizens of and visitors to the Commonwealth."

They have a 3-day training event in February: http://www.landisvalleymuseum.org/documents/1292010974.pdf and another institute in the summer.

Or, if there winds up being less than 16 of us I know of an Amish business (family) that will feed you a sumptuous meal in their home.

Then we can experience first hand that simple living does not mean simple cooking. :D

Or, if there are more than 50 of us we could meet at the Shady Maple Smorgasborg, which is kind of the opposite of eating with the Amish.

Here is the Landis Valley Museum Link again. I think it is only 10 or so miles from Shady Maple.

But Fort Hunter would be nice for a picnic in warmer weather.

Okay this is good so far. It will be only me but maybe my brother might want to come to this. I like Y2KNOWAY's idea.

Uh - yeah... I was too busy hunkering down, doing inventory on my stored goods, and figuring out what I still needed to get myself to "1 week" for two people. [I know... I am just a wee prepper still :D ]

Which idea do you like Recon?

1) Landis Valley Museum (no meal)
2) Amish dinner for up to 16
3) Shady Maple smorgasborg
4) Fort Hunter picinic (bring our own food)

We would have to wait until at least mid-May for #4. It can still be a little chilly for the rest.

Number 4 sounds like a winner. Number 3 is also interesting.
