Preparedness General Discussion
It’s starting in earnest.
I live in a sleepy beach village in Florida. Every year the snow-folks come down and clog the roads, honk their horns, abuse cashiers and waitresses etc …..and bring us a lot of revenue. Every year we are glad to see them come and by half-past May we are glad to see them go.
But things have changed. Beginning late last season and starting right away this season people have become more confrontational and aggressive. They are screaming at people crossing the street in marked crosswalks, getting in fist fights over nothing, yelling at clearly pregnant women when they move too slowly in parking lots, (Censored word. I'm a Potty mouth) at the top of their lungs at supermarket cashiers when there’s a need for a price check and on and on. I’ve been threatened/challenged three times. The most bizarre incident was when I stopped for an ancient couple in a crosswalk. The guy behind me gets out of his car and comes to my window and starts (Censored word. I'm a Potty mouth) about my stopping (the people driving the other way were already stopped when I got there). I asked the guy “What do you want me to do, run these folks over?” This guy starts up again but fortunately the car that stopped in the other direction was an unmarked sheriff’s detective; he came over and sorted the guy out.
The point is that people are getting touchier and touchier. The already thin veneer of civil behavior is rapidly disappearing. Now I feel the need to carry just to go to the shops in my own village….a quarter of a mile away.
Behind where I live is a quiet sleepy middle class subdivision. There’s a steep bank separating us from them so it is pretty much a separate neighborhood but is close by. At least eight times this year the sheriff’s helicopter has been see (and heard) searching that area. We have even had sheriff’s cars pull in where I live to watch the bank that separates us. Before this I didn’t even know the sheriff had a helo!
Then last week I’m out and run into a friend whose son is a deputy sheriff. She’s looking sad and worried. I ask what’s wrong and she sez it’s the sudden increase in crime that worries her. I hadn’t heard about this (no TV or local news in my life). I mention the helicopter and she sez that it’s because of all the burglaries and robberies that are happening. She sez it started last year and is already worst this year, and the season has just stated. Her son is working overtime on patrol because of this and his whole department is getting tired. Small wonder she’s worried, this kind of stuff is unheard of here…at least at this level. We have a great sheriff’s department. They are well trained decent people but this level of crime is taxing them. What will happen when the SHTF?
Is anybody else seeing this kind of thing?

If voting worked it would be illegal.
my reason why it is happening... and will get worse...
16 This is what the LORD says:
“Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. Jeremiah 6"
It's been happening for years and does seem to be getting worse; as it seems people can't handle stresses very well. But I do see many acts of kindness and courtesy as well.
THINK......It's not illegal yet.
I Am Responsible For What I Say. I Am Not Responsible For What You Understand.
we have had an increase in home break in here in WV along with our usual house burning and car wrecks..its getting to be an everyday thing that the local news has 2 or 3 stories on these items..meth making is bad around here and empty houses make good places to make it in then the idiots screw up and burn the place down..i have been here 10 years now and watched it get worse over time..
I see it at work all of the time (University Medical Center) and have to respond. Last night there was an argument over chairs in a waiting room. Later somebody stole somebodies food. Later an argument over what was on the TV. All this human poo poo was supposed to be there for their sick relatives or something. Please don't give me the bullshit - that they are under stress. The truth is people don't care about anything except themselves.
It is just like all the fake outpouring of emotions over CT. Few care and the rest want to be part of the drama, to relive their personal baggage or just enjoy the suffering. I see it first hand all the time. Last night the waiting rooms for ICU's were filled, but come the holidays not a soul will be there. The ICU's will still be filled, but who wants to screw up Christmas and spend it with sick people.
The fact that I see the world as it is and not through Sheep Glasses - sucks, but will serve me well when our fake society goes poof. Swamp

Nope not around here. Everybody is still pretty respectful.
All crime rates for Mn are down since they passed the Carry law. Across the board crime rate is down.

It seems that common sense and common courtesy are no longer common, they have been replaced with common disobedience and common disrespect and all of that effects the common good of the people.
DAMMIT IM MAD spelled backwards is DAMMIT IM MAD
A friend related this story to me.
She was visiting a big city, I think it was either NY or Chicago, can't remember which. anyhow, there were only two lanes of traffic open, one going each way. An elderly man stopped his car in front of an apartment building to get his elderly wife into it. She was in a wheelchair. My friend said they looked to be in their nineties. Anyhow, a guy pulled up behind them and just laid on the horn. Wouldn't let up. At first she thought his horn was broken, but on looking closer, saw him laying on it. She, and about 4 other people walked in front of his car and stood there, telling the elderly gentleman that they had his back and to take all the time he needed. Once he got his wife in the car, another person stopped traffic from coming the other way. Her and three others continued to stand in front of his car, while another person motioned for the cars that had lined up behind him, to go around him and continue on. They made him wait till all the cars behind him had cleared. People on the sidewalks were applauding. They then wished him a merry christmas and let him go.
My friend is a private dectective and is licensed to carry, so she wasn't intimidated by him.
Matthew 25:42 "for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave me no drink."

It's a bit different in the UK.
Slow to rile, the UK blue collar population is simmering nicely.
Shop lifting has soared because ordinary folk can't afford to live anymore. (bbc.co.uk)
They aren't stealing expensive items it's nappies, basic food stuff, and shoes of all things.
Food banks are doing a roaring trade. It's the fastest growing "market" in the UK.
Downtown the shops are reporting hard times, and the number of households in fuel poverty will break through the 6.5 million mark for the first time this Christmas. (yourmoney.com)
Add 800,000 plus (independent.co.uk) unhappily suffering from the Norovirus it's looking bad for this Xmas.
Being a grey man is like fuzzy logic.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
I live near a city of 20,000 which is a service city (meaning thats where you go to get government assistance and handouts). Thre has been a dramatic increase in pharmacy robberies, there and statewide. These robbers are not after money, they want presciption drugs, primarily Oxycodone. They will also stalk the parking lots, watch you in the store and look for people who recieve pain meds. They have also been known to follow people home from the pharmacy and either rob them there or come back and do a home invasion. All of the incidents I have described actually happned according to news reports. The so called "war on drugs" has been lost as surely as the war on alcohol during prohibition. I believe we have created a generation that has become focused on quick fixes, drugs, handouts,FEMA will save me,Uncle Sugar will always be around to keep me from starving etc. I am a Christian, I believe in the second coming and I have never really been a doom and gloom guy, but the more bible study I do, this sure seems like the times of tribulation are beginning. God save us all.
There are a lot of sick people.
More crime? I am not sure. Crime has always been bad in Jacksonville. Hard to say if its worse.
Edit: Maybe its just where I live but there are tons of people who don't have any Christmas decorations up in my neighborhood. Like more people not decorating then have decorated.
Amen to that! And, it's gotten worse. For a while, I was doing substitute teaching, and the attitude of the kids is "I don't want to do it and there's nothing you can do to make me". Unfortunately, they're RIGHT! The WORST I could do was to call down to the office to have the Dean of Students (IF I could get hold of him) come down and escort the troublemaker(s) to the office. Big deal.
People have been taught that there are no consequences for bad behavior...after all, they are "victims", and therefore not responsible for their own actions. On top of that, they have been taught that society "owes" them, simply because they exist; society/government will provide for them and they have no need to do anything to earn such largesse.
Is it any wonder that our country is in the shape it's in now?
What I do believe is that humans can convince themselves of some pretty silly beliefs based on fairy tales, superstitions, lies and plan paranoia.

We've noticed it in a big way here. This is the season of our Saviour's birth, and there should be peace and goodwill toward men. If not now, then when would be an appropriate time?
But today, in our small mountain community, someone pulled out of the Dollar General in front of someone who had to stop for a Stop sign anyway. But the jerk in the other car just sat down on his horn for so long I, too, thought it was stuck.
Everyone is cross, grouchy, and walking around with the look on their faces of permanent constipation. I've tried to smile and wish clercks and passersby a "Merry Christmas" (still safe to say in this neck of the woods), but I've been rebuffed with rolling eyes and grim, downturned mouths. I just stopped trying.
Really can't blame them too much, it truly doesn't seem like Christmas. I just want to sleep through it this year. Days are dreary and dragging, and I just want to get on to spring. Our daughter is home from college, and she is in the living room now putting up the Christmas tree. I just haven't had the heart for it this year.
