Just picked up a new item for the Dollar Tree, Cricket 5-Minute Fire Starter. There are 20 starters in the box. Each burns for 5-6 minutes (even in wet conditions) and you don't need matches. The box of 20 is $1 at the dollar tree. Sounded like a great item for the BOBs.

Nice! I'll have to keep an eye out for these. Of course I'm sure they are banned here in Clownifornia.

Thanks for the link and info.

The JUMBO one burns for 15 min....Dont really see a use for that one especially for use in a BOB.

Definitely have to agree with that. Overkill for a BOB. Thanks for the URL,

I got them! Saw them a couple of weeks ago and picked one up to try. I've been too busy to do that yet, though. We need to do a fire-test and post the results!

Well LetsPrep11, you got me in trouble, twice, with these fire starters. Once with a state trooper, because I just had to try one in the parking lot outside of dollar tree. He actually liked them and went into the store a bought some.

The second time you got me in trouble was with the wife, 'cause I bought 10 boxes of them, she'll get over it.

A good product, thumbs up.

That's it. Still haven't been able to try the ones I bought. But if you are giving them a  , that's good enough for me. Need to shopping tomorrow, so will get as many as I can then. :ninja:

Rickdun, just picturing the State Trooper encounter has me cracking up. And he just had to go get some himself. Thanks for the good laugh!

If you want to get out of trouble with your wife, send her to the Dollar Tree to pick up something (anything). I guarantee there isn't a woman alive who can come out of there with less than 2 bags full of stuff! "But honey, they were such a good deal that I couldn't pass them up."

To those who didn't find these in their store, try another Dollar Tree. There's one every 5 miles or so, here in Florida. It normally takes visits to 3 stores to find everything I have on my list. I'm beginning to suspect that they scatter the inventory like that on purpose.

You're wrong! I can go in, and come out with NOTHING! I seldom even go there unless I'm looking for something specific. Then again, I'm not the "typical woman...I do more of my shopping at the hardware, home improvement, or feed stores than anywhere else (even for clothes.) That, and I try to avoid the mall like the plague!

What's a mall :?

Ice, there are always exceptions! Don't worry, I'm not normal either! We're special.

OK, I've got to weigh in here too. My wife is the same way Ice. I handed her a $50 to buy something nice while I went on a fishing trip before we got married. I came back 3 days later and she handed it back. She told me "I couldn't find anything I needed". One of the reasons I married her. :D

Here's a video on the fire starter, it's a poor video:

https://video.search.yahoo.com/yhs/sear ... tion=click

I had to check the net (amazon) and see if they had them, they do, but are $10.00 a box.

LetPrep11, the state trooper went to school with my son, I've known the guy since he was in diapers, that's about 43 years.

Yep, my usual purchases tend to run to hay, grains (oats, wheat, milo, and sunflower seed) chicken feed, livestock, poultry, and bees.....
