Is anyone else watching Zombie Apocalypse on the Discovery Channel right now? They are highlighting at least one prepper so far that takes the possibility of a zombie apocalypse seriously, at least seriously enough to dump her savings into preparing for it.
I wonder if this is what the Amish would feel if they watched "Amish Mafia". I thought this was supposed to be a science channel, not science fiction.

Take a look at what just happened in CT and then tell me there are no Zombies. Swamp
Sometimes the things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most. That people are basically good; that honor, courage, and virtue mean everything; that power and money, money and power mean nothing; that good always triumphs over evil; and I want you to remember this, that love... true love never dies. You remember that. Doesn't matter if it's true or not. You see, a man should believe in those things, because those are the things worth believing in.

I saw part of it. Seemed good for a laugh. I'm recording it as it's re-shown at a later time so I can have the full "experience." Can you say "jump on the band wagon?"
It's not the blast that kills you, it's the tumble to the bottom of the 800 foot crater.....

Maybe that girl is a member of Zombie Squad and is just trolling those producers?

All kidding aside, I propose we stop using the term zombie. To me it implies a slow moving dim witted being standing out in the open waiting to be shot like in a video game or low budget movie. Although its easier to dehumanize those you may have to kill, they will be cunning, using cover, and searching for your weakness. You can prepare for zombies. I'll prepare for those who may be as determined to live as I.

Zombie. Sheeple. What's the difference? Apathy and mindlessness are already king. The sheeple will do what their dear leaders tell them is best, and those same sheeple will be hungry, ruthless monsters if their welfare checks and food stamps don't come in on time.
Thankfully we don't have cable so I'm not sucked into stupid tv shows that either make me lose IQ or make me (even more) angry and sad at the state of our society.

If your going to survive you must dehumanize your enemy or risk loosing your sanity. During Nam most solders respected Charlie and yet viewed him as something other than human. I'm not sure the name matters, but there better be one - if you intent to survive. Swamp

I agree up to a point. I have never shot anyone, or even held a gun, but I can see where I might be frozen by the thought "this is a human being, it's a person" running through my brain. So maybe I'm wrong, but I think there has to be a level of dehumanizing your enemy if you want to survive. Where I agree is finding a word other than "zombie." I think most people picture Night of the Living Dead, not someone who is cunning and desperate and determined to survive. No word is perfect, but I think a better term would be "leeches". Meat Puppets [ http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.p ... t%20puppet ] might be more accurate, maybe, but somehow it seems too harsh. I know. I'm weird about words. M.

Right on Swamp! That's exactly what i told my kids. Zombies is a metaphor for how unprepared people will act when faced with a crisis. That's why we train, learn, practice, and prep... Nothing is better then when my 10 year old son picks something up in the store and says "We need this for when the Zombies come" then winks at me.
Nine meals...

Meat puppet!! That's freakin funny!! No really I get the point of dehumanizing, but you won't have respect for dim witted slow moving targets that we think of with zombies. Those resempling sheeple and zombies will die off quickly with little help from anyone else. Werewolves are more like what I would call a post SHTF foe. Animalistic, cunning, swift and violent. Newtown did not experience a brainless staggering zombie who stumbled by happenstance upon his victims, it was a crazed predator who had planned and selected those to kill. Just my take anyway.

That Prepper with the Bugout bag is Matt Mogk who is famous for founding the Zombie Research Society which has high ranking members such as George Romero. It is good to see he is working again with Max Brooks who is the son of comedy legend Mel Brooks and he is also the author of 2 smash books; The Zombie survival guide & World War Z (Movie soon). Both these guys work great together (they are both preppers by the way) and by far their best work has got be Deadliest Warrior: Vampire vs Zombie Episode. Although NAT GEO put them both in a documentary style I highly recommend you see these guys work together in a free format such as Deadliest Warrior where you have comic injections of observation from Max and strategic observations from Matt. Follow the link below and see the full Vampire vs. Zombie episode, it is entertaining and cool. http://www.spike.com/full-episodes/q7bq ... n-3-ep-310

From the movie Prophecy - talking monkeys has a nice ring to it, but I will stay with Zombies.
Also from the movie - the truth!
Simon: Do you believe that you are a part of God's plan? Thomas Daggett: That's a complicated question. Simon: No it isn't.
