With computers becoming more and more advanced and with AI a thing of reality now, there just might be the possibility of an EOTW event like in the movie Terminator where computers cause the end of the world as we know it and we have to then fight against the machines. Im not sure just how likely that is but there are some people who are concerned about that, about man's downfall resulting from his own machines, crazy as that is.

I don't think that is even a remote possibility. They will always have an off button.

It is not the computers, but those who run them. With each advance in artificial intelligence, the average person is more expendable. The only thing between us and every other commodity on the planet is a belief in a higher power. Without God, we are just talking monkeys. Swamp

 All the computers are part of the hive mind. We are Borg.

I am not concerned about a Rise of the Machines in my lifetime. AI still has a ways to go, so does robotics. Computers still need our oposible thumbs. The only thing kind of nagging at the back of my mind are the Clouds. I do not want a cloud, much less 3 that have attached to my Amazon, Apple, and Google accounts. I was shocked to find out that even though I have downloaded a book or a song, it is also in this cloud. That's not so bad, you say, but I found Google had inhaled all the images and writing and research I have worked on. It's not taking it from my computer, it's eating it as I surf, send email, or FTP to a website. I tried to get rid of Giggle Cloud but it keeps coming back.

Sorry about the whining, but it's kinda on topic, no?

Electrical eng in me says, I can make a remote that is optically isolated from the robots controls or interference and I am able to shut him down with a remote.
