Two nights a week, for six months.

Then, take the NOLS Wilderness EMT course.
One week. Prices vary.

In a SHTF situation, that is what everyone will be pretty much reduced to.
Including doctors. I had two in my NOLS class.

I would probably do better in a 6 month class rather than a crash 2-3 day course. But after 2 master degrees, I mentally toast for attending 'class' again. I have checked out the NOLS classes thru REI several times. Just need to commit.

Looking back I am split on it.

The EMT-B course was at a community, adult education college. The instructor was very knowledgeable. Her entire career was in Firefighting and EMS.
Granted a background in A&P, and other medical practices made it easy for me.
I felt we could of done better with the "hands on," practicals.
She helped me get into a local volunteer fire station.

The NOLS class offered a EMT-B to Wilderness EMT combination course. Had I the time off from work, I would of done the combination. Very intense, very hands on. Well worth it.
And we were outdoors 90% of the time. What can be better?
Taken that with the Leadership part, I can not recommend it higher.
Beware of the guy with only one Cast Iron pan . . . he likely knows how to use it.
