Postby urban bugger » Tue Sep 28, 2010 1:01 pm

Hi everyone just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. Im from NYC and thus am prepping for a bug in situation. Anyone else from NYC please feel free to say hello. I would be very interested in sharing ideas for prepping in an urban area particular to NYC where we are surrounded by water

Welcome from NYC. Queens to be exact. NYC is a unique place to plan for. My plan is simple, shelter in place for anything low to medium level, and bug out if things get crazy.
What are are you in?

Greetings from 'zona and welcome to the forum! More often then not bugging in will be best but TL's right .. a plan for the craziness is needed too. Feel for you being on that tiny isle (if on LI, that is) but make yourself at home here since tons of resources, ideas and talent. And contribute where and when you can too since we all learn from each other! :) itsa

I am in Queens as well, great to know a fellow prepper is in the area! I plan to shelter in place as well but there are situations where I think I will have no other choice but to bug out. One main problem would be getting off the island in an event of mass exodus and panic. Those few bridges would be a bottleneck and would be a danger zone  I have yet to find a good escape plan other than leaving in advance or in a boat  to get to the mainland.
