Fox news just reported that some 74 countries have been attacked via the internet, whoever did it, is holding the computers for ransom.

Can't blame the Russians on this one, they are one of the countries hardest hit. :cursing:

http://www.foxnews.com to read the report on the UK attack.

Outback, could have been the democrats, Hitlery Rotten Clinton did broker the sale of 20% of our plutonium to the russians, maybe she sold out our own malware from the NSA that they used in the cyber attack. :?

The best part of this was how it was stopped.

You can bet they (the hackers) will not make that same mistake twice.

Fox has said that 100,000 organizations in 150 countries have now been hit with the ransomware.

They expect more on Monday, once people get back to work and start opening up their e-mails.

The ransomware was leaked by the NSA or somebody from the NSA, sounds like our intel people are not secure.

I wonder if there is more to this than just some hackers wanting to make a few dollars? It is way too big and drawing too much attention for the criminal underground. This is the kind of thing, that could lead to international efforts to shut down Bitcoin and other money laundering organizations like it. In short, they are pi**ing off all the wrong people and that is not something organized crime wants.

At the same time, asking for money would be great cover, for a terror organization testing the waters! Swamp

An exceptional point Swamp.

I was thinking terror organization or govt myself, or a combination working together. A big punch in the gut while making it appear that the "other guy" did it. It's easy to copy cat but this was awfuly huge & organized for that type of scam.

Agree with Swamp and Mollypup, this may be the beginning of something bigger, i.e. locking up different countries national defense systems, national security systems, FAA systems, communication systems, power grids, etc..

I've said numerous times, on other posts, you don't need a nuclear EMP, you only need a few keystrokes on a computer to take down a power grid and it's a lot cheaper. The combination of the keystrokes are getting closer than we realize on doing something like this.

A new version has been found without the kill switch, but had a flaw in it.

The article was poorly researched. WannaCry DOES attack modern computers, up through 2012 Server. It is also misleading in that it implies that XP is an attack vector to a specific class of victims but governments and companies world wide all still use XP including the US. Finally, Microsoft has release a patch for the vulnerability for even XP.

I have a lot of respect for Assange, but certainly not because of the ZeroHedge article which would be better used in the garden. . . .

The bigger question is who is behind the attack ? Like others here and other sights are thinking it was a pis-sed offed demo- crap who was a hitlery / odrama fan that leaked the cyber tool . The person behind the leak should be hung up by there feet for a few weeks , the hackers should be hung up by the hands for a few weeks also .
This method of justice would require tall trees and a few miles of rope because there are quite a few critters that need to pulled out of the swamp and made an example of .
The chant " lock her up " needs to be changed to " hang them all and let God decide the guilt or innocent factor ".
