Image THANKSGIVING Store Sales!

Time to shop and stock up on seasonal items, again! I saw that our local WEGMAN's has cranberry sauce/jelly for only .49 cents a can (I've been seeing it for over $1/can during the year. They also have baking supplies on sale and sweet potatoes for only .39 cents/pound. Celery is .99 cents for the small pkg. White potatoes are $1.99/5 lb. bag.

Celery can be sliced & diced & frozen for storage. Or you can dehydrate it and store even MORE!

Potatoes & Sweet Potatoes can be dehydrated.

Baking supplies (like flour) can be stored in airtight containers like 5 gallon buckets for long term storage.

Seasonal canned goods can be stored for YEARS.

Get turkey, while it's at a low price. Cook and home-can. Or slice and freeze, after baking.

Boxed stuffing can be a meal stretcher. I'm still using boxed stuffing from 2007 that is in our pantry and it's still good. Same with instant mashed potatoes. They are selling for about .99 cents/box, right now.

Holiday sales that are centered around meals are a great time to stock your pantry! If you are financially struggling. Just get 1 or 2 items each week. A little here & there builds up your pantry stock, too! -k

Wegman's has their 5lb bags of flour for $0.99 each. 2 limit, but I'm sure that you can go back and get more each time. $5 for 10lbs of flour? Heck yeah!

Condensed milk is $0.69/12oz can. I don't recall the prices for generic condensed milk at Walmart, but their name brand stuff is at $0.98/can.

 (Although, with this Korea thing, I've been shopping more than usual ... I'd better look and see if I have some 'stash' in a purse pocket or somewhere. Maybe some change in several coat pockets?) -k

I've been shopping more than usual for the same reason - not even close to being prepared for what they could possibly do. :( But what are you going to do, if the SHTF, it will happen whether we are ready or not! BTW, I sent you an e-mail today! ;)

Got your email. Look for a response. I went to Giant and the cheapest rice I saw was $4.99/10 lb bag. BUT ... beans are on sale for 5/$4, making them .80/lb bag. So, I stocked up on them. .... and other things.

Prepping is expensive. Hubby's getting irritated. -k

If anybody is interested: Dollar General Store - This Thursday, Friday and Saturday, $ general has their 16 oz. bristol caned hams on sale at 2 for $4.00. I went down this morning and had them set aside a case of 12 for me, best by date was 10-2022, 5 years.

They also have their brand of tuna on sale those same days, 5 oz. chunk light tuna in water, 2 for $1.00.

the Bristol brand canned hams are OK - keep an eye out for the upcoming Walgreens holiday period sales - they usually have the 1lb canned hams and large cans of salmon on sale for $2/pc ....

for tuna watch for Kroger - both their regular stores and discount food chain Food 4 Less - name brand tuna - usually StarKist brand - 50 cents/can ... they have regular sales thru out the year ....

Wow! Zombie thread revived! I'm not in PA, but right now Family Dollar has a $5 off of a $25 purchase coupon in the local super shopper newspaper and also has all their brand canned veges for sale at .50 each......with the coupon, it brings the cost down to .40 per can. That's the best price I've seen so far this year. I had 2 coupons so I went in twice today and pretty much emptied the shelves of green beans and mixed veges. I still have another coupon that's good until Monday. I hope they have something good on sale next week to use it on b/c I am all set on canned goods for quite a while. :)
