At least 26 people killed in shooting at Texas church

[snip]

At least 26 people were killed in Sunday's church shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott said at a press conference.

Many others were wounded, said Freeman Martin, a regional director with the Texas Department of Public Safety, with victims ranging in age from 5 to 72 years old.

And immediately the conversation turned to gun control. So very sad!

So. Has anyone else had fellow church members bring up security at church?
What, if any, solution did you agree on? I'm not into the locking of doors the after service starts. I'm thinking just quietly carry concealed. Let a potential mass killer get aerated by parishioners and I bet THAT stops.

Rumors circulating around the mainstream media claim this nut bag was shot by a local with a shotgun he had in his vehicle. Church is another fine example of a soft target. Also today, 2 people shot in a church outside Fresno California.

It is a difficult subject for the pacifist bible thumpers. Others like myself - it is another matter. It was decided that certain members would be prepared and be seated in certain positions.

Even if one's church doesn't discuss protection, be proactive. Everywhere.

supposedly confirmed by a TX Ranger that a local resident engaged the shooter with a rifle and drove him off - leaving his Ruger rifle - shooter found dead in a crash down the road - shot by resident or suicide?????

Most of the people I know carry in Church, so, it would be a big mistake for them to try something like that here.

Last I saw reported the guy bled out from a gun shot wound, hopefully from the good guy with a gun. Of course the media is trying to downplay all of that. :x
Wondering how the guy passed 4 background checks when he shouldn't have been able to get a gun. He spent a year in jail for domestic assault, and was dishonorably discharged from the military. Doesn't make sense.

the heavy trouble the shooter had was thru the military - doesn't carry thru to the civilian side .... but they did deny him a carry permit because of his domestic assault troubles ....

But if he was denied a carry permit, shouldn't he have been denied a gun purchase as well?
The 4473 says
"Have you been discharged from the Armed Forces under dishonerable conditions"
and
Have you been convicted in ANY court of domestic violence.

Both of those should have prevented him from getting a gun.

a guy on another prep site posted about his conversation with an ATF agent concerning this incident - agent said military convictions don't count even if they are aware of them - which he says takes an arm & a leg to get processed ... military convictions are against the military and not the people of the US like in criminal convictions ....
