Carnation Instant Breakfast

    Sometimes when I get up or late in the evening, I don’t feel like eating a big meal. You got to eat something. This is where the instant breakfast idea comes in. i just mix me up a big glass full and slowly drink it. I am good to go. That stuff is like a steak meal in a glass. A glass full will hold you for several hours. When you talk about milk, you got whole milk, 2%, 1% and then skim milk. Powdered milk is pretty much skim milk. You can mix up a gallon of powdered milk just short of a gallon and then add a can of cream and you will have close to whole milk. If your power is out, your fridge won’t work unless you have a gas fridge. Learn to mix up a quart or maybe a half gallon. You can keep the milk cooler than ambient temperature by wrapping the container in a wet towel. As the water evaporates, it will make the container cooler. If milk gets hot, it will clabber, turning it into buttermilk. I can drink buttermilk and often use it to make biscuits. Now for the instant breakfast recipes.

    Combine milk, egg, banana, sauce and vanilla in a blender. Blend at
    high speed 1 min or until frothy. Makes about 1 1/2 cup.

    1 serving, 202 calories, 23 g carbohydrate, 14. g protein, 6 g fat 1
    protein choice, 2 milk choices 2%, 1 fruit & veg. choice

    Half serving, 3/4 cup: 2 milk choices, 103 calories

    Blue Corn Atole (Breakfast Drink)

    1 cup nonfat milk (or 1/3 cup instant nonfat dry milk + 1 cup water)
    2 teaspoons sugar (or to taste)
    4 teaspoons roasted blue or yellow cornmeal
    cinnamon and/or other spices can be added to taste

    1. Add ingredients to milk; stir until combined.
    2. Heat in a saucepan, continually stirring; serve steaming hot.

    Helpful Hints:
    This is a good substitute for morning coffee or tea.

    Instant Breakfast Drink Mix
    1 – 3 oz box instant vanilla, or chocolate or butterscotch pudding
    1/3 cup sugar
    12 scoops protein powder
    6 cups instant dry milk powder
    2 tsp vanilla powder

    Combine all, blend well.

    Blend 1 c. Ice Water & 1/3 c. mix, blend well. Add fresh fruit for a change of pace.

    tig:You could just add Ovaltine to a glass of milk. That stuff is loaded with vitamins.
