Just a thought provoker to get things started.

Lots of folks have nice shady backyards not suitable for a veggie garden. But their front yards are perfect. Consider putting in a mixed annual/perennial/herb/fruit/vegetable garden in the front. If planned properly, it can be quite lovely to look, and you reduce the amount of grass you have to cut. Plus you eat its bounty!

I did this when we lived smack in the middle of Cincinnati. What a hit it was with the neighbors! The lady next door thought it was so great she did the same thing the next year. “Freedom through teaching others self-reliance” at work!

Here’s the search results page for “front yard vegetable garden.” Tons of stuff. http://www.bing.com/search?q=front+yard+vegetable+gardens&go=&form=QBLH&qs=AS&pq=front+yard+ve&sp=1&sc=1-13″ onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false
