Below is a link to a PREPPER forum with a ton of information and no spam. I am not affiliated with it’s formation, I’m only a happy poster and reader of great content.
APN has lost the thousands of posts and information it used to have, and only a very few are working to recreate the content. Unfortunately, we who are contributing aren’t…[Read more]

If you click on Recent Activity, it shows all the advertisements.
I was one of the people who left the old Yahoo! group to come to APN because it was a great forum with thousands of useful posts on every topic related to prepping that one could think of.
Now, it really seems as if the only active forums are the Introduce Yourself, and the…[Read more]

IdahoBeef – I’m sorry to hear of the loss of your mother and brother. I hope you have peace.
Perhaps start using some of the preps to get it down to a manageable level. Or, if you know someone who preps, perhaps donate some to them. Another option is to give some more of it to the homeless shelter.
Ice, I hope your shoulder starts feeling…[Read more]

Good info, Illini. I will make a list to acquire these items we do not have. (We have a lot of this stuff already).
We have the cartridge respirators, the duct tape, hand sanitizer in gallon jugs, plenty of the different soaps you mentioned – hand, anti-microbial, body wash, etc., liquid chlorine bleach, chlorine tablets, chlorine powder, dry…[Read more]

Still working on the garage. I dumped a lot of old paperwork today. I’ve realized for a while we’ve not needed a lot of this stuff, and have been trying to get to this tasking of cleaning the garage for a few years. Finally decided to just buckle down and git ‘r done. We’re on Day 10, but I expect to be done by mid next week.
Husband took the…[Read more]

Started the new thread.
Yard sales were not good this week.
Grocery shopping:
Restocked what we used
2 totes for reorganizing the garage
2 jugs of vinegarWe are still cleaning out the garage. Some of the stuff has been packed for over 16 years, we know from the dates on the unopened boxes. Yikes! Anyway, a lot has been thrown away – Husband…[Read more]

Wow – Illini – that is a great score!
Ice – I think the dude was wanting to just get rid of stuff, it was his parents home, they’ve been in a nursing home a few years and I suspect his wife probably said it’s time. He seemed a little overwhelmed and when Husband brought up both thermoses and he couldn’t find a price on the blanket, he threw it in…[Read more]

Good to see you again, MM.
Only a few folks post now, but we’re hanging in there trying to rebuild all we lost with the old APN.

Got the KitchenAid – haven’t used it yet, but I will. We also got an air-fryer and have made some tasty things in it – I’m sold on it!
Today, I finished sewing the 4 patio chair cushion covers that have been on my sewing list for years. More sewing chores are on the list, need to get them done!

Thanks, Ice!
I had a family reunion going on the last 18 days, so preps went out the window. We did have a blast though, and found out one of the families has begun prepping so we had a lot to talk about!
On the prepping front, Husband took the last of the family to the airport (in another state), and then decided to stop at the local Bishop’s…[Read more]

I’ve been gone a few days, we’ve been working to get ready for the family gathering.
We laid the flooring in two days (prep and actual installation). It was very easy to snap in and to cut. It looks great and best of all, it has a slight texture so it’s basically non-skid in addition to being waterproof and pet-friendly. Also, the floor now…[Read more]

WE didn’t get that color, it comes in other colors, too.

Got some flexible, waterproof laminate flooring to put in the laundry room. The original tiles are too slippery and because of it being the mud-room, too, rugs aren’t cutting it. I didn’t want to ruin the tiles, in case we ever have to go back to it, so we got non-adhesive, floating floor covering.
Picked on some water seal on sale to re-do the…[Read more]

We just bought two Tyvek suits at Lowe’s to add to our biohazard preps. I was telling Husband about the raincoat, and we looked at those cheap plastic ones you buy to throw in the camp gear, and they just seemed too flimsy. Not sure if Tyvek is bio-hazard-proof, but we can cover it with trash bags as an extra layer.

We will stay put.
We are blessed to live in small, rural woods with several neighbors who are also self-sufficient. We all stock food and other goods because winter can get tough. We all have 4WD vehicles, but usually choose not to go out at all. We all hunt and fish, and we already have a decent trading system with each other. We put in a water…[Read more]

I am currently growing limes, lemons, and oranges in the Midwest. While the orange tree has fruited, the season isn’t long enough to get them to ripen. My plan is to get the trees growing strong and then build a green house where they will live, and then perhaps they’ll fruit and ripen.
We have several foraging plants where we live that will…[Read more]
