Just the spammers and a few old timers wondering the same thing. Sigh. Just wondering why nobody has turned out the lights and put the domain up for sale.

I use the Recent Activity option to see the current stuff. Most of the recent spammers seem to be just posting updates and not topics. But they are incredibly numerous and persistent lately.

Hoping that the last prepper to leave the forum will remember to turn out the lights. No need for the spammer cockroaches to have illumination. Sigh.

@icefire I try to tag the message as SPAM by replying and adding SPAM to the tag on the message thread. Can you search on tags? Or is that just a waste of time?

I think most of the old contributors have drifted off to other sites that are more active.
Didn’t help that the site was down for a while and even when it came back it had lost most of the recent posts. I know a few folks are trying to be active, but life has kept me busier than usual lately so I haven’t spent as much time on here as I used…[Read more]

So are you a human spammer or just a bot?

And another spammer joins in the “fun”

At least the name is appropriate, 3 posts since joining and all are spam. 😛

That’s assuming he’s left alone. If he thinks someone is coming to take him out I could easily see him lashing out with everything he has just to spite us. I guess time will tell.

Bulging cans indicate something seriously wrong and I won’t even consider opening such a can….
But dented cans are usually safe enough if they are fresh. That said, I won’t buy any dented cans for my pantry and if I accidentally dent a can then it goes into my kitchen for use ASAP. The issue with dents is that you don’t know if it has broken…[Read more]

Forgot to mention that commercially prepared soups are cooked in a retort that can get much higher temperatures and pressures than we can at home even with a pressure canner. I’d be leery of any recipe for a soup that didn’t follow the USDA guidelines since botulism is no joke even with modern medicine…with limited medical support during an…[Read more]

You might be able to do it with a pressure canner, but don’t try to can in a water bath since it’s dangerous for anything with a pH of over 4.5 – you can get botulism from the results….
Did find a recipe for pressure canning soup, but you can’t add pasta ahead of time.

Vegetable, dried bean…

Most folks on here probably don’t check the updates, but instead read the forum posts. The best place to start is probably http://americanpreppersnetwork.net/forums/forum/survival-preparedness-and-sustainability/disaster-preparedness/general-preparedness-discussion

Is it helpful for me to Tag those messages as SPAM or is it a waste of time?

Theoretically yes. I bought some specially made mylar bags designed to be vacuum sealed. But I haven’t had a chance to use them since I also got oxygen absorbers and regular ziplock style mylar bags in the same order and have been using them up first.
The ones I got are from mylarbagsdirect.com and are the 7 mil vacfoil bags which come with an…[Read more]

Yeah, after reporting spammers early and often and not getting any moderator action for a month, I’ve been spending my time doing other things and on other sites.
Kind of sad, like the loss of a long time friend, but life goes on and things change.
But I do try and pop in every few days and see what activity has happened. Hmmm, just checked and…[Read more]
