As far as I know, I can’t block anyone. All I can do is send the spam to the trash, then delete. Some of these spammers must have NOTHING else to do all day. Ggggrrrrr.

Do we have a way to ban the spammers, yet? I spend more time trashing spam than doing anything else.

Welcome to APN. I moved your post, as it was in the wrong forum (It was in Forum Announcements instead of Introduce Yourself, where it belongs.) That being said, yes, there ARE other Canadians on here. Hopefully, one of them will pipe up here.

11 months after kidding for the first time, my doe is STILL giving milk – between 5 cups and 6 cups (a quart and a half) a day. The youngsters each went for a “hot date” for a week at a time with a friend’s buck back in October. If the breedings took, they should be popping out their own kids in mid to late march.

Actually, rennet has been around for millennia. There are 2 types of rennet – animal, which was traditionally made from the stomach lining of a young calf/kid; and vegetable – which is made from a plant called Our Lady’s Bedstraw that contains a natural curdling agent. Annatto is derived from the seeds of the achiote tree native to tropical…[Read more]

Welcome! First, you have realized that you NEED to start preparing, and realized your lack of preparedness. That puts you ahead of most of the “sheeple.” Start with food and water, then go from there. An easy way is to just buy a little bit extra of foods you normally eat, every time you shop. Pay attention to sales. Stores usually have something…[Read more]

Nice to see you back, Shin! Sucks that the AF has decided to medically retire you, but hopefully you’re at least getting some sort of pension out of the deal?
As to similar sites, I’m on SurvivalistBoards (https://www.survivalistboards.com/) as well as on here (but NOT as a Moderator over there – just a member). In fact, I’ve been on there longer…[Read more]

I’m removing the ads and spam as fast as I can, but since I have a full time job, it takes me a while. Hang in there.

Welcome. Quite a few military vets on here ( personally think that being/having been in the military tends to lean one more toward a preparedness mindset. (Especially now that they’re pushing emergency preparedness on post now – at least in the Army. Can’t say about the other services.

Welcome, Harry. It sounds as if you’ll have some valuable insights to share.
And, I agree…FEMA is just about useless for any long term national event. Heck, they can’t even handle a regional event without screw-ups – look at Katrina as an example.
I don’t trust the government and/or government organizations to do what’s best for people.…[Read more]

Took the car in to the shop this morning for some Preventative Maintenance–oil change, replace engine air filter, and replaced the battery that was starting to leak acid. Figured it was better to replace it NOW that wait for it to fail when I could least afford it to.
Also worked with husband and daughter to add to the fencing in the goat/cow…[Read more]

Made 2 batches of mozzarella today. Decided to experiment and use animal rennet instead of vegetable rennet, and see if there was any difference in yield. The animal rennet DID give a higher yield than the vegetable rennet.
Currently have some feta in the works – it’s currently in the pot on the stove.
Also harvested a bunch of the milo heads.…[Read more]

Started pulling the corral apart this morning – pulling T-posts, taking down panels, etc. T-posts and panels will be re-used elsewhere, although some will be used to create a bull pen that is separated from where the “dairy pen” is by about 30-40 feet – we’ll park the trailers (horse/stock and utility trailers) to the back in between the two – and…[Read more]
